Stephen Capello - Hume Bank CEO
Stephen is a visionary and transformational Financial Services Leader with over 20 years of experience and a unique blend of financial, technical and business leadership capabilities. He began his career with AMP in Sydney before holding executive positions in the UK at Banco Santander and Spain and Hungary at Aviva, before returning to Melbourne, at ANZ and BankVic.
Stephen commenced as the CEO of Hume Bank in 2018.
Originally established as the Hume Co-Operative Building & Investment Society Ltd. in 1955, Hume Bank now has over $1.5b in assets and has provided banking and financial services to the Southern NSW and North East Victoria region for over 65 years.
Stephen has a passion to lead for growth and has led the bank on a repositioning journey, identifying higher purpose and inspiring trust in the community, whilst developing the capability, resilience and talent to ensure future success of the bank through expanding into new markets and creating new products and services.
Michael Mack - WAW Credit Union CEO
Michael Mack is the Chief Executive Officer of WAW Credit Union.
Michael was appointed to that role in 2016, after serving as the organisation’s Deputy Chief Executive from 2008 - 2016. He has been the strategic driver of the organisation throughout a period of strong financial growth and innovation. Under his direction, WAW has been at the forefront of digital innovation in the Mutual sector, maintained an extensive regional branch network, had a positive social impact in its communities, and upheld a reputation for outstanding service.
Michael has extensive retail banking and strategy experience in the customer-owned banking sector in Australia, and has spent time in the UK and Canada working with major Banks and Mutuals.
He has held roles on a number of national committees and advisory boards focused on Mutual sector performance, Prudential Regulation, digital strategy and innovation.
Michael also works with businesses and communities at the local level through his membership of the Economic Development Reference Group as part of the Albury-Wodonga Regional Deal initiative, and as a Board member of the Latrobe University Regional Advisory Board.
Michael holds a Business Degree from LaTrobe University, is a Fellow of the Australian Mutuals Institute (Instil), and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
